State Championships

Who will be state champion?

The dream of pulling on the state champion jersey will be forefront on every racers mind as we line up at the start tomorrow afternoon.
The race is a short circuit that skirts the edges of the capitol in downtown Lansing, a venue which promises to be both exciting and fast.

Lasting only 45 minutes the race will maintain a blistering pace of at least 25mph, and finish with a sprint approaching 40mph.
My job during this race will be to conserve energy, and protect my teammate. My role is to deliver him safely to the finishing stretch, and lead him out in the final sprint. This is not a glorious job, but a necessary one. Because the most likely outcome of the race is sprint finish, I'll ride with the expectation of working for someone more gifted in that area. By working to each riders strength, we can as a team ensure more success.
However, this plan is not set in stone. If the opportunity arrises for a breakaway or solo finish you can bet the farm I'll be in that move.
Not matter the outcome, I'm happy to race. But I would be a little happier if we snatch a win.
I'm excited for tomorrow.
